1. Definitions
• “The Company” refers to J. Doyle Carpentry Ltd.
• “The Client” refers to any individual, company, or organisation engaging the Company.
• “Works” refers to all carpentry, construction, building, and related services provided by the Company.
• “Contract” means the agreement between the Company and the Client, incorporating these Terms & Conditions, the quotation, and any agreed specifications.

2. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms & Conditions apply to all contracts entered into by the Company. Acceptance of a quotation or instruction to proceed with the Works constitutes acceptance of these Terms unless otherwise agreed in writing.

3. Quotations
• All quotations are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
• Quotations are based on information provided at the time and may be subject to revision if specifications change.
• Unless stated, quotations, planning fees, building control fees, and utility connection charges are not included within quotations.

4. Scope of Works
• The Works will be carried out in accordance with the agreed quotation and specification.
• Any variations, additions, or changes requested by the Client must be agreed in writing and may result in additional charges and/or time extensions.
• The Company is not responsible for delays caused by third parties, adverse weather, material shortages, or unforeseen site conditions.

5. Payment Terms
• Payment terms will be stated on the quotation or invoice.
• Unless otherwise agreed:
• A deposit may be required prior to commencement.
• Interim payments may be required for longer projects.
• Final payment is due upon completion of the Works.
• Late payments may incur interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
• The Company reserves the right to suspend Works if payments are overdue.

6. Materials
• Any unfixed materials remain the property of the Company until paid for in full.
• Where the Client supplies materials, the Company accepts no responsibility for defects, delays, or suitability.

7. Access and Site Conditions
• The Client must provide safe, clear access to the site during agreed working hours.
• The Client is responsible for ensuring utilities (water, electricity) are available unless agreed
otherwise.
• The Company is not responsible for damage caused by pre-existing defects or hidden issues discovered during the Works.

8. Health & Safety
• The Company will comply with all relevant health and safety regulations.
• The Client must inform the Company of any known hazards on site prior to commencement.

9. Timescales
• Any start dates or completion dates provided are estimates only.
• The Company shall not be liable for delays beyond its reasonable control.

10. Defects and Warranty
• The Company guarantees workmanship for a period of 12 months from completion, excluding
fair wear and tear.
• This guarantee does not cover defects arising from:
• Misuse or neglect
• Client-supplied materials
• Alterations by third parties
• The Company must be given reasonable opportunity to inspect and remedy any defects.

11. Damage and Liability
• The Company will take reasonable care to avoid damage but is not responsible for:
• Unavoidable disturbance caused by construction works
• Damage to hidden pipes, cables, or structures not reasonably identifiable
• The Company’s liability is limited to the value of the contract, except where prohibited by law.

12. Insurance/licenses
• The Company holds appropriate public liability and employer’s liability insurance, waste carriers license and asbestos awareness certificates.
• Proof of insurance is available upon request.

13. Cancellation
• If the Client cancels after work has commenced, the Client will be liable for:
• All completed work
• Materials ordered
• Reasonable loss of earnings
• Consumer clients may have statutory cancellation rights where applicable.

14. Force Majeure
The Company shall not be liable for failure or delay due to events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to extreme weather, supply shortages, strikes, or acts of God.

15. Dispute Resolution
• Any disputes should first be addressed amicably.
• If unresolved, disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

16. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of
England and Wales.

17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
